Biographical information:
Montreal born, raised, and (nearly entirely) educated. I hold a Liberal Arts D.E.C. from Champlain College St. Lambert, which gave me the freedom to explore Anthropology as an elective every semester. I then earned my Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Anthropology (minoring in Geography) from McGill University. As an undergrad, I participated in archaeological fieldwork, travelling, surveying, and excavating in Quebec, the United States, and Finland.
A curiosity and focus on emerging digital technologies like Geographic Information Systems took me to the Institute of Archaeology at University College London (UCL) for a Master of Science in GIS and Spatial Analysis in Archaeology. After graduation, I returned to Montreal to begin a PhD. in Anthropologie from l’Université de Montréal (UdeM), expanding on research interests in cognitive and prehistoric archaeology, as well as in GIS modelling and analysis. During my graduate studies, I conducted fieldwork in central Spain and co-supervised a multi-year archaeological field-school in Verdun.
Although I did not see my PhD dissertation through to completion, the skills and connections I gained fueled my interests in teaching. Before I was hired at JAC, I gave sessional lectures at l’UdeM and McGill. I continue to develop my knowledge and practice of teaching as a SALTISE Fellow (www.saltise.ca), and through courses from the Performa Master Teacher Program at l’Université de Sherbrooke (https://www.usherbrooke.ca/performa/en/programs). I always appreciate new podcast recommendations for my long commutes to campus.
