As a graduate of John Abbott College, returning to campus to teach in the Psychology Department is a full-circle experience. Cory’s professional background spans 15 years of teaching across diverse educational environments. His career began with performing arts instruction, followed by teaching at a community school in Jamaica and an international school in China. He went on to provide trauma-informed education for at-risk youth at a rehabilitation center in Nunavik before serving as a bilingual teacher in public schools across Québec and Ontario.

Cory holds a B.A. in Human Relations and Psychology from Concordia, as well as a B.Ed and M.Ed from Queen’s. His thesis focused on predicting executive functioning impairments through task performance in a virtual environment. His former students say that he is “cool” and “pretty goated” and that he is a “Minecraft pro”.

Drawing on his foundation in inquiry-based pedagogy, cultural variables, and executive functioning, Cory is excited to join the JAC community. He looks forward to sharing his passion for psychology by helping students bridge the gap between abstract theories and their practical, real-world applications.
